 Artist's Statement:

 

        I am very grateful for the gift of my artistic vision.

      Elaine C. Sopko

 Elaine Sopko is an award-winning portrait artist and painter of the natural world.  The artist's impressionistic style of painting in oil has evolved through extensive artistic training and through the practical experience of more than 40 years of portrait, floral, and plein air painting.   A graduate of Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts and Thomas Edison College, Elaine was also a private student of both Carmela de Fronzo and Margaret Yard. Before moving to Pennsylvania, the artist taught drawing, painting, and portrait painting,  and served as the Director of the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts. 

     

 Elaine has also exhibited extensively in Pennsylvania and in New Jersey, where several of her commissioned portraits are on public display, including a portrait of Sir Winston Churchill in the Churchill Elementary School in Fairfield, NJ. and a portrait of the founding pastor of Notre Dame Church in North Caldwell, NJ.  Father Murphy's portrait is hanging in the entrance of the chapel of the Notre Dame Church.  Elaine Sopko 's paintings are in  many private collections and in  public venues throughout the United States and also in Italy.
